three examples from a six-part
series of small, untitled pieces made
using vintage goldenrod carbon paper
modified solely by hand-folding and ink
transfer between adjacent planar surfaces.
of special interest to me was finding
the simplest possible juxtapositions of
form and color through the simplest
possible folding schemes. the visual
qualities of the paper's opposing
sides allowed me to create stark
contrasts of tone and texture
in
juxtaposition with
real and illusory
shadow play created by various
three-dimensional manipulations
of the carbon sheet and by the
gentle
transfer of
ink through
mechanical rubbing.
