thermochemical change is the catalyst in
the facsimile series, a large series of small
works
generated by selectively applying
transient heat gradients to temperature-
sensitive coated paper.
heat functions here as light does in a
cameraless photograph (photogram).
what is recorded in these thermogenic
drawings is a heat shadow (or heat gradient)
cast by a physical object alone or in combination
with other fixed or transient studio vectors.
these objects and conditions
act as a negative
(matrix) for triggering the chemical responses
that generate the final recorded images.
these are very simple projections
of non-retinal realities into
the visible world.
