this is an exploratory study made earlier this year,
before work began on the new series of thermogenic
drawings that currently occupy me. the new series
relates to and extends from an earlier series of thermogenic
drawings called FACSIMILE: VOLUME ONE (2004–2005).

the new series is also fueled by the formal and conceptual
concerns of the recent THE RUINED SKY paintings.

fusing some of the most durable aspects of drawing,
painting, photography and printmaking with an expanded
conceptual frame that enmeshes retinal and non-retinal
realities alike, the new series adds sublimated gesture
and the transformative agency of heat to its optics
as it states its case for the material plane of human
existence.
